PRAYER FROM THE BASILICA OF S. CROCE IN GERUSALEMME

PRAYER TO THE MOST HOLY CROSS
(taken from the official stampita
of the Pontifical Roman Basilica of S. Croce in Gerusalemme)

O most Holy Cross of Jesus which reminds us of the agony and death endured upon Thee by the Man-God Redeemer, receive with our adoration the most fervent desires of our heart as an homage of reparation for the affronts and insults inflicted on Thee by the impiety of new
crucifiers.

O Glorious banner of the death of Jesus, Thou art the sacred altar on which the Divine Victim was immolated: Thou art the inexhaustible fount of the graces that gush forth from the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus; Thou art the seat of that heavenly wisdom that was proclaimed by the dying Redeemer; upon Thee was fixed the inscription of the decree that was against us, and at Thy foot death lies conquered and hell remains bound.

O powerful champion of all Thy enemies, disclose the treasures of mercy and, receiving our prayers and our reparation, convert the wicked, forgive sinners, fortify the just, and, still bathed in the Divine Blood, disclose Thyself to our gaze and extend upon us Thy blessings.

Our Father, Hail Mary. Glory be to the Father.
